Last week my fellow Siren author, Michelle Graham, tagged me in her Next Big Thing so this week it's my turn! The idea is that I answer ten questions about my latest project (My Next Big Thing) and tag more authors who will talk about their next big thing next week. So, here we go!
The Next Big Thing
What is
the title of your book?
One Shot.
It is book two of the IAD Agency series and is set to be released on February 5,
2013. One Shot features IAD agent Tara Toshi, who has
been such fun to write!
How did you come by the idea?
This story was born out of a
comment Tara made in Under Pressure
when she was talking to her friend Bella…
Lightening
the mood, Tara grinned. “Can’t believe you and the boss are getting married.
Marriage…I mean wow. One penis for the rest of your life.” Tara
looked so horrified Bella laughed hysterically.
"Don't get me wrong, marriage is good. Good
for other people.”
“Oh,
honey, I can’t wait till it’s your turn. You are going to be so fun to watch
when you fall in love.”
“That may just be the meanest thing you have
ever said to me.”
From there I knew Tara was the
next in line to take the fall…
What
genre does your book fall under?
One Shot is an Erotic Contemporary/Romantic Suspense novel.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters if it were a movie?
Oh now, why would I want to do
that? The fun in reading a book is for the reader to fantasize about who they want to see in the roles! J
But...if you really want to know who I saw as I was writing it...it was Maggie Q from the TV show Nikita and Stephan Amell from the TV show Arrow.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
An anti-terrorist agent and a
corporate tycoon come together for the greatest mission of their lives…falling
in love.
Will your book be self-published or traditional?
I am pleased to say
this book will be published with Siren Bookstrand Publishing.
How long
did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
A couple of months. *laughs* A long couple of months.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I would like to say this is in a
class all its own *wink wink*
Who or What inspired you to write this book?
This story is quite personal to
me. I used a little bit of personal experience along with what I learned from
friends who have suffered from PTSD. I was also fortunate enough to volunteer
at a women’s shelter for abused women and children for a few years and tried to
encompass some of the things that I learned during my time there. That being
said, I was inspired to write this story to give hope to anyone recovering from
something in their past and to say that everyone deserves their own happily
ever after.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
I think many women (and some men)
enjoy reading stories about strong female characters as well as their alpha
male counterparts. Each of my characters have flaws along with their strengths.
I try to make my characters seem like people you would enjoy having in your
lives.
It
was a pleasure watching Tara Toshi fall in love! One Shot is set in both Chicago and Las Vegas...and has more
action, more intrigue and of course more hot passion than the first IAD novel! I absolutely LOVE writing about
the characters of this series and, lucky me, there are numerous agents that each
have a story to tell!
Here
is a little teaser about the book:
Tara
Toshi is a woman on the edge. Code name 'T-rex', Tara is one of the elite
agents of the IAD Agency, modern day warriors tasked with taking down
terrorists and keeping the world safe. She doesn’t believe that happily ever
after exists for her, until her world collides with corporate tycoon Julian
King…
Julian
King is the owner of a multi-million dollar hotel empire and personally runs
the Palace Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He is a man who rules his kingdom with
an iron grip and knows that the house always win. But when he meets agent Tara
Toshi all bets are off. As a terrorist plot threatens his city, Julian realizes
that he is also jeopardy of losing his heart.
Passion
explodes every time Tara and Julian come together, but can she risk taking this
one shot at finding happiness and give her heart to a man she barely knows?
The
IAD Agency series novels are all stand-alone stories, but it is highly
recommended to read them in order to get the most enjoyment from the series!
The first IAD Agency novel, Under Pressure, is now available at the following links:
Have just finished reading Under Pressure and I have to say it is an awesome read. Bella and Jason make a terrific couple, their story just flowed from start to finish. Congratulations on a terrific book.
