~ Insider Exclusive: Interview with Tara Toshi and Julian King from One Shot ~

Welcome to my exclusive interview with the “it” couple of Las Vegas, corporate tycoon Julian King, owner of the Palace Hotel and Casino, and his beautiful fiancée Tara Toshi! This busy couple has been extremely difficult to track down, but have no fear dear readers, this interviewer got them to sit down to answer a few questions about their unique courtship and upcoming nuptials.

Interviewer: Mr. King, Ms. Toshi, thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with me for this interview today.

Tara Toshi: Like this guy gave me any choice?

Julian King: *laughs* Thank you for having us. And please call us Julian and Tara.

Interviewer: Thank you. Tara, my first question is for you. Your fiancé has been one of America’s most eligible bachelors for several years running. Can you tell our audience how you captured his heart?

Tara Toshi: Oh geez… *sigh* I came out to Las Vegas with my team to work on upgrading the Palace Hotel and Casino’s security system. Julian and I met and things just sort of…happened. Trust me when I say this wasn’t planned. And I didn’t capture anything…he wore me down.

Julian King: Very true. All it took was one look and I knew that Tara was the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

Interviewer: That is lovely. Tara, as a security consultant for Mac Securities you often find yourself working with high profiled clients, correct? In fact the owner of the company, Jason MacBain, is also a very power man. What made Julian stand out for you?

Tara Toshi: Is that really your question?

Julian King: Darling…

Tara Toshi: Fine, I’ll behave. Yes, Jason is a pretty powerful guy, but he is also a close friend. His wife, Bella, is also one of my best friends. In fact, all the men and women I work with have pretty strong personalities but we are a really tight crew. I guess you could say we all have Alpha tendencies. When I’m on a job I guess I don’t really think about who I’m working for….I just do the work, but this time…this time was different. Julian got to me.

Julian King: I certainly did my best.

Interviewer: But surely the fact that Julian is one of the wealthiest men in America has affected your relationship?

Tara Toshi:  Not really. It takes more than money and power to get my attention. Actually, his wealth and his prominence in the media were two strikes against him.  I don’t really care what people think. Julian and I have a strong relationship and that’s what is important. And the truth of the matter is I’m not marrying him for his money, I’m marrying him for the sex.

Julian King: And I shall endeavor to keep you happy in that area.

Tara Toshi: Damn right you will. *sigh* Listen, I had a crappy childhood and I has some bad shit happen to me over the years – don’t ask because it’s classified and I wouldn’t tell you about it anyways. The important thing is; I survived. More than that, I made something out of my life and it lead me here to Julian and the life we have together. I’d go through all of it, do it all over again to have what I have with him.

Julian King: Now can you see why I love her? She is a miracle.

Tara Toshi: Okay, we need to stop with the sap…I have a reputation to protect.

Interviewer: Julian, what was it about Tara that first caught your attention?

Julian King: *laughs* In one word, everything. The first time I saw her I was entranced. As I got to know her, I was even more so. Sure, she is a pain in the ass sometimes –

Tara Toshi: Back at ya, Ace.

Julian King: But as I learned every facet of her personality it just made me love her more. Neither of us are perfect by any means…but we are perfect for each other.

Interviewer: Tara, as a former agent with the FBI you would have an interesting perspective on the recent activity here in Las Vegas. There have been rumors that both of you were involved in helping to end the recent terrorist threat. Is that true?

Tara Toshi: No comment.

Julian King: It is a shame that we deal with these types of threats all over the world. I am just glad that the perpetrators were caught and the city is safe.

Interviewer: Tara, there have been leaks that you were integral in the takedown of the terrorists. Would you care to set the record straight?

Tara Toshi: No. Comment.

Interviewer: Julian, do you worry about your fiancée’s choice of profession? There have been rumors that Tara will be leaving the security field and coming to work full time at the casino.

Julian King: Of course I worry, I love her but this is part of who she is and I love everything about her. I have plans in the works to build a new Palace Hotel in Chicago where Mac Securities is based. Tara and I plan to spend some time there, making it easier for her to continue to work and consult with them. She also plans to take over part of our security at our hotel in Vegas.

Interviewer: So, do you have a date for the wedding and can you give us any details?

Tara Toshi: Oh my god…

Julian King: *chuckles* We do have a date, and no we are not going to share it with you. Most of the planning will be taken care of by our wedding coordinator. Tara isn’t exactly the wedding planning type.

Tara Toshi: Boy, is that an understatement…Sorry, we have to cut this short. I have a flight to catch.

Julian King: We…we have a flight to catch.

Interviewer: Is this a personal or business trip?

Tara Toshi: Both...

~ Guest: Ryan Sherwood ~ The Next Big Thing ~

For all you Sci-Fi fans....I have a special guest post today - my friend and fellow writer, Ryan Sherwood, is sharing his Next Big Thing right here on my blog!

What is the title of your book?

Revenants: Fallen Savior, the first in a series of a complete reinvention of the undead, known as the revenant, that has the power and insight of the human soul.

How did you come by the idea?

I hadn’t seen a satisfactory, “logical” or new look into how the undead could exist over the centuries and their correlations with existing factions in history. I saw the gap between the supernatural and human to be the soul, so I researched every approved and forbidden religious and scientific text I could find to discover the culture of the revenant, the soul and the interaction between them. In this book and series I explore deeply into nanotechnology, angels & demons, zombies, the soul, Samurai, science, religion, ghosts, morphogenetic field theory, ethics, war and the vast human experience - all from the sharpest vantage, the hindsight of the very end. And there’s plenty of action, twists and new abilities too.

What genre does your book fall under?

Horror/fantasy/sci-fi

Which actors would you choose to play your characters if it were a movie?

I really haven’t pondered that. My guess is visually fitting unknown actors – much of the production cost would be spent on special effects!

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Revenants: Fallen Savior follows Ezra, a new and lost revenant, as he explores what he has become as well as the whole new undead world that comes with it; an existence fully open to the purest and most polluted power ever known, the human soul.

Will your book be self-published or traditional?

Revenants: Fallen Savior is published through Synergebooks.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I wrote the novel in 7 months, between jobs, after more than 5 years of research.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

The closest comparison I have discovered after completing Revenants: Fallen Savior was reading Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series, because of the creation of a whole new world in which inhabitants struggle with amazing internal powers, the familiar external struggles against regimes and an epic battle of survival.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

Writing this or any book helps me understand what life I’m living. The more unreal the story, the more real the understanding. Over time, the stories in my head got louder, bigger and more insistent to be born so I committed them to paper so they could rattle around in others heads too.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest

The same thing that got me to write it - the whole new idea of the undead. A revenant is an undead creature made by the soul that can Haunt and Harness all creation or devastation. A revenant can see all the lives, power and knowledge contained within the soul reanimating the corpse they share and that leads to a vast culture, society, wars and powers that make up the centuries of history and tales explored in Revenants: Fallen Savior and the books to follow.
I also designed the cover.

~ Guest: Erika Reed ~ The Next Big Thing ~

Today I have a special guest post - my good friend, fellow Siren author Erika Reed is sharing her Next Big Thing right here on my blog!

What is the title of your book?

My new book is called Her Second Chance at Love. It will be released on January 23rd.

How did you come by the idea?

Everyone deserves a second chance at love. I wrote this book for anyone who has lost a loved one. I feel for those who are left behind to suffer the pain of loss and for the people who feel that a part of them has died along with their loved one. I wanted this story to focus on the fact that life doesn't have to end...that there are so many reasons to move on with your life and countless people who are there to love and support you.

What genre does your book fall under?

Erotic contemporary romance

Which actors would you choose to play your characters if it were a movie?

Mark Wahlberg, Rachel McAdams, and Tatum Channing

What is the one sentence synopsis of your book?

There is always enough room in ones heart for more than one love.

Will your book be self-published or traditional?

My book will be published by Siren Publishing.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I write when I can find the time which means it usually takes me about three months before I can submit a manuscript. I enjoy writing, however I have a wonderful husband and young children that will alway come first.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

My books aren't compared to other stories. I consider mine to be a one of a kind. :)

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

I enjoy reading M/M/F stories. I thought by adding a twist to the story would help captivate the readers hearts. I also have someone(s) very close to my heart that are in a M/M relationship, and have been for many years. I always found their relationship very admirable, caring, and loving. It is very hard to have a M/M relationship and not be judged by it. Even though they do not have a female to share their commitment with, I thought by adding the female into the equation might interest the reader.

What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

This book is about a heroine who is able to move on with her life after the tragic death of her husband. Her two best friends help her through her grief and she finds herself falling in love with them. Together they learn  how to adapt and expand on their hidden feeling they have always had towards each other.

Here is a little teaser about the book:

Lily Mitchell thought her life was over when she woke up in the hospital after she was involved in a car accident, only to find out that her husband Grayson didn’t survive the accident. Luckily, with the help of their best friends since college, Gavin Hudson and Nathan Roberts are there to help her pick up the pieces of her life in her time of need.

Nathan and Gavin have longed to have a sexually relationship with each other since college. Gavin and Nathan’s feelings for one another finally come to a head the minute they bring Lily to come live with them. Together they help each other bring out their true feelings for one another. Lily has always loved them. Her heart will always remain true to Grayson, but feels the need to allow Nathan and Gavin to show her to love again.
